| Descripción del viñedo | Champagne Taittinger : The history of the champagnes Taittinger is linked to Thibaud IV, last Count of Champagne, who owned the Abbey of Saint-Nicaise. After a crusade, he brought back a plant vine, supposed to be the ancestor of chardonnay. In tribute to the counts of champagne, the prestigious cuvée of Taittinger ‘Comtes de Champagne’ was created in 1952, a Blanc de Blancs vintage, made only from the Côte des Blancs and aged in cellars for many years. (There is the emblem of Thibaud IV on bottles of this wine). The history of the Taittingers has been linked to the Champagne ever since. It really began in 1934, when Pierre-Charles Taittinger acquired the château de la Marquetterie. This castle had symbolized for many years, the place of the French luxury. To its homage, the grapes, which are coming from the vineyards around the castle, are used in the preparation of the wine "Folies of marquetterie." Apart from this splendid castle, the Taittinger champagnes are also famous for their cellars, which were excavated from the caves of the fourth century. They were used by monks to store champagne’s bottles and are still today. Located in Reims, the brand Taittinger is now headed by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger. The 290 hectares of the vineyards and the grapes of the suppliers help to develop the wines of Taittinger, recognized throughout the world. Since 1983, and this for eleven times, a bottle of Taittinger Brut Vintage has been decorated by a famous artist. Vasarely was the first and the last was Rauschenberg.
